The Bioinspired Translational Microsystems Laboratory

BioinSyst

Texas A&M University College of Engineering

Homepage

BioinSyst was established in 2016 by Dr. Abhishek Jain. We are a lab that is founded on a strong culture of interdisciplinary research, teamwork, and mentoring. Our core philosophy is to strategically pursue curiosity-driven research by surrounding ourselves with the most extraordinary collaborators from science, engineering and medicine, who complement our expertise. Anchoring upon these values, our goal is to contribute new biomedical discoveries and maintain an inspiring place to work.

We are a leader in the development of organ-on-chip biotechnology and innovating the next generation of cellular systems of human diseases. The impact of our research is far reaching as organ-chips mimic complex disease states and offer a testbed for pharmacology and toxicology. This technology is disrupting traditional preclinical practice and gradually reducing animal models from translational research. We also envision organ-chips as a platform with tremendous potential to enable basic scientific discoveries of the future. We particularly specialize in making patient-specific models of rare and orphan diseases with an emphasis on vascular and blood abnormalities.

Our work is internationally recognized through high-impact publications and our patented/patent-pending inventions have been licensed to industry. Our staff and trainees regularly win prestigious fellowships and awards.
