The Bioinsyst team gained valuable insights and had fun at MPS World Summit

MPS World Summit, New Orleans 2022


 

Day 0 started with some wonderful French-Cajun food at the French Quarter

 

Day 1 had intriguing talks and workshops from industry and academia

 

Dr. Amirali Selahi presented his work on Lymphanigion Chip on Day 2, and won the 2nd best poster!

 

On Day 3, Jim presented his work on machine learning in organ-chips and bagged 2nd position in the young investigators category!

Tanmay and Dr. Lopamudra also presented their posters.

 

On Day 4, Dr. Jain presented our lab’s DVT-on-Chip research, and the lab bade farewell to Dr. Amirali Selahi.

Amirali wins the Zweifach Student Travel Award

Congratulations Amirali for winning the Zweifach Student Travel Awards to the MCS Annual Meeting at the Experimental Biology 2022.

FYI: Dr. Zweifach was a godfather of biorheology, and one of the founders of the discipline of bioengineering itself. Read more here: University of California: In Memoriam, 1999 (cdlib.org)

Jim wins the American Heart Association Predoctoral Fellowship!

Join us in congratulating Jim Tronolone for winning the AHA Predoctoral Fellowship (Integrating machine learning approaches to vasculature-on-chip for improved translational outcomes in disease models). This is two-year funding that provides $65,000.
Previously Jim has won BME National Engineering Fellowship and also NSF’s Graduate Research Fellowship. Go Jim!

Tanmay is shortlisted for the “Elaine W. Raines Early Career Investigator Award” by the American Heart Association!

Our lab is extremely proud of Tanmay Mathur! He is the only bioengineer and a graduate student shortlisted as one of four to present his new research platform, “Vascular Organ-Chips made from Blood” and compete to win the “Elaine W. Raines Early Career Investigator Award” given by the American Heart Association’s Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology. All speakers are excellent and have a super bright future. Wishing Tanmay all the best!

Dr. Jain was selected as AHA-ATVB Kenneth Brinkhous Prize Finalist

Dr. Jain was selected as a finalist for the prestigious Kenneth Brinkhous Prize in Thrombosis from the American Heart Association and ATVB! He presented our Vein Chip that is making an impact on our understanding of COVID 19 induced blood clotting.
